Take a Deep Breath
Updated: Dec 9, 2019
Take a deep breath in.
Now let it out.
You may notice a difference in how you feel already.
Your breath is a powerful tool to ease stress and make you feel less anxious.
We all breath naturally and automatically but deep breathing allows the body to relax. The increased intake of oxygen allows the body to heal quicker and the mind to clear.
A few minutes everyday of deep breathing can help improve health, focus and self esteem. According to the Harvard Medical School deep breathing helps with relaxation and breath control helps suppress the errant stress response.
Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down.
Place one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach.
Take a slow deep breath in and a slow breath out trying to clear your lungs of all the old air.
Focus on the air coming in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Feel the air flow down into your chest and down into your stomach.
Whilst you are breathing you can picture a calm place in your mind or see colours.
Do this exercise daily, to maintain stress and anxiety levels, or whenenver you need relaxation.
Daily breathing is highly beneficial to everyone so practice everyday.
